Dear reader, Welcome to the second issue of my (very) casual newsletter. As you might have noticed, this issue looks a bit more professional than the first one. This is because it's now sent using a lovely service with amazing branding called Rumicat (https://www.rumicat.com). I hope using a proper newsletter service instead of manually sending out the emails will encourage me to write to you more often than once a year. Still, don't expect to hear from me too often. This is a casual newsletter after all! Balance adsI recently ran my very first paid advertisement for one of my indie apps by sponsoring an issue of Dense Discovery (https://www.densediscovery.com/issues/370). It's one of few newsletters I subscribe to, and I've been a reader for years.
Previously, I haven't done much in terms of marketing for my apps, other than the occasional post about it on social media. Most app installs come from organic App Store traffic. I want to try to focus more time on marketing my apps as it's simply not enough to build a great product if no one knows about it—at least if you're trying to make money off of it. I have another Balance ad going out next week in another newsletter, and it will be interesting to compare how well they did. I don't have a great way of tracking this, but as I'm not running multiple ads at the same time it should be fine. Quitting social mediaThe other day, I added a project to my website called Quitting social media (https://alexandersandberg.com/quitting-social-media/). It's a place for me to publicly share thoughts I've collected for a while around one day quitting social media. I write about why I want to quit, why I don't want to quit, and about my progress on this endeavour so far. If you can relate, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, or your own story if you're on a similar path. Just reply to this email! This newsletter is actually a key part of me breaking free from social media, which I talk more about on my website. Sharing more on my websiteSpearking of, I really enjoy sharing thoughts, ideas, and knowledge with others on my website—my "digital garden", as it's sometimes called; a curated collection of things I find interesting, and hope others can find joy in as well. For instance, I would love to add a section to my website where I can share books I recommend people to read, tasty recipes to try, or maybe even travel recommendations. Would any of that be interesting to you? Anything else you'd like to see? Please let me know! Kind regards, P.S. I have some pretty exciting news to share in the near future, so you might hear from me soon again. P.S.P.S. (see what I did there?) I present to you my new newsletter assistant: |
